ISRO has appointed doctors to understand the impact of spacecraft on humans and accordingly the spacecraft will be designed. The astronauts selected for this mission have also been included in the construction of the orbital module.

Agency chief S Somnath said that four astronauts have been selected for the Gaganyaan mission. We talk to them. They sit in the cockpit. We instruct them and ask them to indicate whether the position and illumination where the equipment is placed is correct. Somnath was speaking at a session with health experts on the use of space technology in emergency medical services.

Somnath said that ISRO scientists are developing human rated spacecraft.

Important role of doctors in space missions

He said that we are looking at this aspect of how doctors are involved in the design of human spacecraft. Negotiations are taking place between doctors and engineers on its design. Somnath said that if we want to see a successful human space flight in India, then we will need a strong group of doctors who are connected to it like engineers.
